Footwear Design: Exploring 3D Modeling

The following series of shoes models and sketches are my attempt to explore Footwear design while learning 3D modeling in Fusion 360 and improving my skills at Footwear Illustration.

I have a growing interest in Footwear Design and so I started with a couple of sketches to explore the elements of Footwear, its various applications and my style.

After some designing on paper, I decided to 3D model a shoe to understand in depth the process of shoe construction, form and function by following a tutorial  since there are a lot of elements that are put together in a pair of shoes. The end result was however a basic design with my own twist. These are some of my final explorations.

These are some of my sketches that inspired me to explore further into footwear design.

The studies and exploration are inspired by the requirements of different sports, latest materials in the industry, ergonomics and basics of footwear design. Some of the main areas I explored are Traction, pivoting, function of the midsole and ergonomics in general.

I especially stressed on Tennis Sneakers since I am a Lawn Tennis player myself and constantly feel that there needs to be more variety both in terms of Form and Function.

I would love people's feedback or tips on how I could better my design process and skills.
